Notes: Harry R. Detwiller and Lillian Ellen Williams were married 23 Jun 1920 in her home town of
Richmond, Wisconsin. They had met when she was teaching school in Griggs County,
North Dakota. In 1925, they were farming on the original Detwiller family farm,
7 miles north of Cooperstown in Tyrol Twp., Griggs County. They had two children,
Mary Evelyn, born in 1921, and William Henry, 1924. By 1930, Catherine Eileen, born
in 1926, and Patrick Roger, 1929, had been added to the family. The family was still
in Tyrol Twp. in 1940.
In 1941, Harry and his wife went back to Wisconsin, where he worked in a
defense plant. In 1943, they moved back to the farm. However, in 1946 they eventually
they moved into Cooperstown where Harry worked for the state highway department.
Harry died 13 Jul 1967 in Copperstown. Lillian died 30 Jun 1979 in a nursing home
in Cooperstown. Both are buried in the Saint George Cemetery, Cooperstown, North
Dakota. |
