| Notes: Mildred Estella Lamb was born 15 May 1900, at home, in Brooklyn WArd 8, Kings, New York.
Her parents were Henry G. Lamb and Mary M. Runchman. She was the last of eight children, seven then living.
In the 1905 NY State cesus, Mildred, 5, was living with her parents, Henry G. Lamb, 41, and Mary M., 40, at
4703 Third Avenue, Brooklyn Ward 08, Kings, New York. Her father was a grocer. Her older siblings were
Fred A., 19, a bank clerk, Arthur J., 13, Viola M., 13, George A., 9, and Hazel, 7. Mildred was not yet in school. In the 1910 U.S. census, Mildred E., 10, was living with her parents, Henry G. Lamb, 47, and Mary M., 45, at Aeyerello Street, Redwood City, San Mateo, California. Her father was a retail merchant of gents furnishings. her siblings were Fred A., 24, a railroad clerk, Arthur J., 18, a vegetable farm laborer, George A., 14, Viola M., 14, and Hazel E. 12 Their home was rented. In the 1920 U.S. census, Mildred S., 19, was living with her parents, Henry G. Lamb, 56, and Mary M., 56, at 137 Jefferson St., Redwood City, San Mateo, California. Her father was a retail merchant of dry goods. Her siblings at home were Arthur J., 27, a stenographer for Pac Title Estates, and Hazel W., 22. Mildred and her sister Hazel were known as "The Lamb Sisters" and were billed as "California's Sunkist Darlings". During the 1920 through 1927 Jazz and Vaudeville era, they traveled the national theater circuit, entertaining with their close harmony singing, dancing, and musical comedy, always beautifully costumed. Mildred Estella Lamb, 18, married Earl Webster Baldwin, 21, on 21 Mar 1927 in her parents home on Arch Street, Redwood City, San Mateo, California. Mildred had just finished touring with her sister Hazel Lamb. Earl was a screen writer for MGM Studios in Culver City. For awhile, they lived east of Los Angeles, in the Covina area, then moved to the San Fernando Valley area where they lived for over thirty years. No census record can be found for the couple in the 1930 USA census. In 1935, Earl was working as a screen writer, and they were living at 4039 Cromwell Ave., Los Angeles. In 1939, they were living at 4245 Clybourn Ave., San Fernando, Los Angeles. Earl was a writer for Warner Bros. In the 1940 U.S. census, Mildred E. Baldwin, 36, and Earl W. Baldwin, 38, were living at 5251 Woodman, Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, CA. Mildred had completed 4 years of high school. Earl was a scenario writer, had completed 2 years of high school, and had an income of over $5,000. They owned their home, which was a new home, having being built in 1939, with 3,929 sq. ft. They had one daughter, Phyllis, 5. Also in the household was Helen Steffen, a servant, and Ivah Daty, a nurse. In the 1950 U.S. census, Mildred E. Baldwin, 44, and Earl W. Baldwin, 46, and were living at 4343 Sutton, Apt. 13, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA. Earl was a writer for a movie studio. Their two girls were Phyllis E., 15, and Suzaanne M., 9. About 1966, Mildred's husband Earl was stricken with pancreatic problems, and stopped writing for a while. In 1969, he began writing again. At that time they were living at 1523½ Dickens St., Sherman Oaks. After a morning walk, he would dictate stories to his Mildred to be typed up by a commercial secretary. Earl died 9 Oct 1970 at the Motion Picture Country Home and Hospital in Woodland Hills, where he had lived for a while Mildred moved to Thousand Oaks. She died 5 Feb 1983 in a Panorama City hospital after a brief illness. The graveside services were held 8 Feb 1983 at the Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, where she was buried next to her husband. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
