Notes:  John Abram Bishop was born 13 Mar 1919 in Delta, Millard, Utah.  He was the fifth child of John Avery Bishop and Lemira Louisa Walker.  His older siblings were Erma, born in 1908, Avery Alvin in 1913, Francis Walker (Frank) in 1916, and Mohonri Moreancumer in 1917.

In the 1920 U.S. census, John's family was enumerated in Delta (Town), Millard, Utah.  His father John Avery was a farm manager, working for a wage or salary.  The family owned their home free of mortgage.  The children were Erma, 11, attending school, Avery A., 6, attending school, Frank W. 3, Mohonri M. 3, and John A., 8 months.  John's sister Lemira was born in 1921, followed by two more sisters, Ava and Ora Mae.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Delta (Town), Millard, Utah, John's parents owned their own home, valued at $3,000. and had a radio set.  Although they did not live on a farm, his father John Avery was a farmer, doing general farming on his own account.  The children were Erma, 21, Alvin A., 26, Frank W., 13, Mahonri M., 12, John A., 11, Lemira, 8, Ava, 5, and Ora M., 14 months.  Alvin, Frank, Mahonri, John and Lemira were attending school.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Delta, Millard, Utah, John's family was living on Center Street 3rd West, the same house as in 1935.  His father John Avery was a manager of a cream station.  The children at home were Francis, 23, Mahonri M., 22, and John A., 21, all laborers doing odd jobs; and Lemira, 18, Ava, 15, and Ora May, 11.  John A. had completed one year of college.

John enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 6 Apr 1942 in San Francisco, California.  He won his wings at Corpus Christi, Texas, and reported to the Jacksonville naval air station on 29 Jun 1943 as an Ensign.  During a routine training flight, he and his radioman were killed in a crash on 10 Jul 1943.

John's funeral services were conducted in the Second Ward Church, Delta, with full military honors by the American Legion and soldiers from Topza.  He is buried in the Delta City Cemetery, Delta, Utah.
