Notes:  Martha May Brown was born 10 May 1876 in Logan Twp., Perth County, Ontario.  She was the first child of William Brown and Margaret Campbell.  Her father William was a saw mill owner and a farmer, farming on Lot 28, Conc. XVI.  Walter and Agnes Noble were next door neighbors, farming on Lot 27.  The family was Presbyterian.  Martha's sister Nelly Alice was born 24 Sep 1879, and sister Maggie was born 27 Apr 1882.  Unfortunately, her mother Margaret died 7 May 1882, from complications of childbirth of her last daughter.

Martha's father William married Ellen Patterson on 6 Jun 1883.  Martha gained three half-siblings from this marriage.  They were David, born 16 Mar 1884, Mary, born 3 Jun 1887, and Elisabeth, born 23 Mar 1889.  In 1891 the family was still living on the same farm.  By 1901, Martha had left the home, but cannot be located in the 1901 Canadaian census records.

Martha married Charles Detwiller on 28 Jan 1903, in Logan Twp., Perth County, Ontario.  Both were 26 years of age.  He was a farmer, residing in Brandon, Manitoba, she was a resident of Logan Township.  In the 1906 Manitoba census, they were living in Manitoba.  They had two children, Gordon, born in March 1904, and Margarey, born 22 Oct 1905, both in Manitoba.  Their daughter Margaret was born in March 1907, and daughter Florence in July 1909.  The family moved to Saskatchewan prior to the 1911 census.

In the 1911 Canada census, Martha and Charles were living in the Assiniboia District of Saskatchewan.  Daughter Marion was born about 1912 and daughter Dorothy was born about 1914.

Charles died 27 Mar 1940, and Martha died 30 Oct 1943.  Both are buried in the Englefeld Union Cemetery, Englefeld, Saskatchewan.
