Notes:  Frank Gordon Strome was born 9 Feb 1915 at Greenside, Humbolt, Saskatchewa, Canada.  He was the seventh child of Astor Sands Strome and Julia Maud Detwiller.  His older siblings were Myrtle, born in 1900, Wilford, in 1902, Harvey in 1904, Bertha in 1909, Eva in 1911, and Nelson (Bud) in 1913.

In the 1916 Canada census of Saskatchewan, Humbolt, St. Peters Municipality, the family is enumerated on their homestead, on Sec. 32, Twp. 37, Range 19 W2, located on the road to Englefeld.  Frank's sister Minnie was born in 1917.  By the 1921 Canada census, his brother Harvey had left home.  Frank's sister Dorothy was born in 1921, and brother James in 1926.

According to A History of Englefeld, 1903 - 1987, the family homestead was located at Greenside, and the children attended the Greenside School.  From this source, we know that in his younger years, Frank was active on the hockey and baseball teams for Greenside.

Royal Canadian Artillery Badge In Feb 1942, Frank enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery in Saskatoonm and trained at Camp Shilo, before going overseas.  He was a gunner in the 1st Anti-tank Regiment, which was among the allied forces that invaded Sicily on 10 Jul 1943.  He was killed in action 21 Jul 1943.  He is buried in the Agira Canadian War Cemetery Agira, Provincia di Enna, Sicillia, Italy.
