Notes: According to Family Search, Thelma Lorene Cannon was born 23 Apr 1910 in Missouri. Her parents were John W. Cannon and Coral Ethel Armstrong. She had a brother, Elwyn Eugene, born about 1908. In the 1910 U.S. census, Thelma, one month old, is found living with her family in Boone, Green, Missouri. Her father John, 40, was a laborer in the lime kiln industry. He had been married to her mother Ethel C., 20, for three years, and Ethel had had two children, only one then living. The other children in the household were from her father's previous marriage. These were Lila F., 14, Elmer E., 12, and Emma P., 9.

In the 1920 U.S. census in Chanute, Neosho, Kansas, Thelma is living with her mother Ethel Dyer, who is now married to Charles H. Dyer, an oil driller. Thelma, 9, is listed as Thelma Dyer. Ethel and Charles have had two children of their own, Marjory, 3½ and Robert, about 2.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Los Angeles City, Los Angeles, California, the family, last name spelled Dier, is living at 1701½ South Union Ave. Charles is a building carpenter. Her mother, Cora, has four children. These are Thelma, 19, Margaret, 13, Robert, 12, and Virginia, 3.

Thelma Lorene Cannan, 20, married Leon Francis Peterson, 22, on 19 Sep 1930 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. Nothing more is known about their marriage. In the 1940 U.S. census, Leon F.
