Notes:  Harvey Allison was born 11 Jul 1912 at home at 2008 Duke St., Alexandria, Fairfax County. Virginia.  His parents were Gilbert Walton Allison, 34, and Lillian Mills, 23.  His father Gilbert was a driver.  Note that the last name of the physician who assisted at Harvey's birth was 'Delaney', which became his middle name.  Both of his parents had been born in Fauquier County, Virginia.

There is a second Birth Certificate, filed in 1928, for Harvey D. Allison with a purported birthdate of Nov 1, 1910, with same parents, a close address, same Doctor, etc.  However, all census records, military records, and social security records give credence to the Birth Certificate filed in 1912.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Harvey D. Allison, 8, was living with his family in Alexandria Ward 4, Alexandria (Independent City), Virginia.  His father Gilbert W. Allison, 46, was a laborer for the railroad.  His mother Lilly Allison, 35, was a housewife.  The children were John W., 13, Harvey D., 8, Cathrine, 5, Mecie, 2 and May, 10 months.  John and Harvey attended school.

The Alexandria, Virginia, City Directory in 1928 lists Gilbert W. (wife Lillian B.) as a laborer, residence on N Washington extd.  Harvey D. is listed as a student at the same address.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Harvey Allison, 17, was living with his family at 40 North Washington St. Ext., Alexandria, Alexandria (Independent City), Virginia.  His father Gilbert W. Allison, 53, was a laborer for the railroad.  His mother Lillian M. Allison, 42, was a housewife.  The family was renting their residence for $15. a month, and had a radio set.  The children at home were Harvey, 17, a laborer doing odd jobs; Katherine, 15, a clerk in a department store; Mecie, 12, Virginia, 10, Doris, 8, Marion, 4, and Mary, 8 months.    Mercie, Virginia and Doris attended school.

The Alexandria, Virginia, City Directory in 1932 lists Gilbert W. Allison (wife Lillian B.) as a gardener, residence on 1 N Washington extd.  Harvey D. is listed as a helper at the same address.

According to the Alexandria, Virginia divorce records, Harvey D. Allison married Ella L. [Ballenger] Allison on 26 Nov 1930 in Annapolis, Maryland.  Ella L. Allison, 19, resident of Alexandria, VA, filed for divorce from Harvey D. Allison, resident of 1 No. Wash. St. Alex, VA, on grounds of desertion.  The divorce was final 11 Sep 1934.  There were no children.

Harvey married a second time to Mary Agnes Grove.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Harvey Allison, 27, and his wife Mary Allison, 24, were living at 417 E. Hume Avenue, Alexandria, Alexandria City, Virginia.  They were renting their residence for $18. per month.  Harvey was a clerk for a brewery company. He had completed seven years of school.  Mary had completed three years of high school.  They had one daughter, Anita, 4 years.

When Harvey Delaney Allison, 28, registered for the WWII draft in 1940, he was living in Alexandria, Virginia.  His employer was Alfred J. Haigley (a brewery owner).  He was described as 5'9", 175 lbs., with light complexion, gray eyes and brown hair.  His wife was Mary Agnes Grove Allison.

The Alexandria, Virginia, City Directory in 1954 lists Harvey D. Allison (wife Mary A.), as a conductor at the Potomac Yards, living at 7B Russell rd apt 3.  The Public Records Index gives an address of 3 Russell Rd., Alexandria, VA.

Harvey Delaney Allison died 27 Apr 1992.  His last residence was in Alexandria, Alexandria City, Virginia.  He is buried in the Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia.  His wife Mary A. Allison preceded him in death in 1987 and shares his headstone.
