Notes:  Buster Edward Neukam was born 26 Nov 1923 in Rogerson, Twin Falls, Idaho.  He was the fifth of seven children of Frank Neukam and Retta May West.  His older siblings were Roy Cornelius, born in May 1916; Lillian Anna, March 1918; Jean Marie, Dec 1919; and Wilford Frank, Jul 1921.  His younger brother Richard Jay was born in Aug 1927, and died in Jan 1928.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Buster was living with his family in Rogerson, Twin Falls, Idaho.  They owned their own own home.  His father Frank was employed as a mechanic in an auto repair shop.  The children were Roy, C., 13, Lillian A., 12, Jean M., 10, Wilford F., 8, and Buster E., 6.  All of the children were attending school.  His youngest sister Verla Faye was born in Feb 1937.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Buster was living with his family in Elko, Nevada.  They were renting their home for $8. a month.  His father Frank had completed 4 years of high school, and was a machinist in the mining industry.  His mother Retta had completed 7 years of school.  The children at home were Jean M., 2 years of high school, working as a cafe waitress; Wilford F., 18, 2 years of high school, a mine pumpman; Buster E., 16, 8 years of school, a mine laborer; Freda M., 5, and Verla, 3.  Enumerated next [door] was his older brother Roy C. Neukam, 23, 2 years of high school, a miner; and his wife Lola Neukam, 22, 8 years of school.

His mother Retta May died 22 Apr 1941 in the Twin Falls General Hospital, Twin Falls, Idaho.  Cause of death was burns sustained while cleaning clothes with gasoline.  She was buried in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Twin Falls, Idaho.  At the time of her death, the family was living in Jarbidge, Elko, Nevada.

Buster Edward Neukam registered for the WWII draft on 30 Jun 1942 at the age of 18.  At the time, he was living in Reno, Nevada, employed by Levi J. Zenter.  He was described as 6'1", 163 lbs, light complexion, with hazel eyes and brown hair.  In the 1942 Reno, Nevada, City Directory, Buster E. Neukam is listed as a driver for AL&JZCo, residing at 819 Valley Rd., with his father Frank Neukam.

According to Family Search, Buster Edward Neukam married Wanda Geraldine Walker on 10 Feb 1943 in her family's home in Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada.  Their marriage license was issued on 10 Feb 1943, and the family reports he left for the armed services ten days later.  Buster left Reno on 22 Feb 1943, for the induction center at Fort Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah.  Therefore, they may have married on 12 Feb 1943.

Buster and Wanda had a family of two children.  In 1957, they were living at 1205 Reynolds Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada.  Buster was a foreman for the Urban Electric Company.

Buster Neukam died 31 Jul 1970 in North Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada.  He is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Las Vegas, Nevada.
