Notes:  John married Barbara Tobler on 18 Jan 1882 in the Saint George LDS Temple, with President John D.T. McAllister officiating.  They were second cousins.  Within a year of their marriage, they were able to buy a lot and a small home in Santa Clara, Utah, where all of their children were born.  Their first son John Henry was born 4 Mar 1883 and died 13 Aug 1884, when only a year and a half old.  George Jacob was born 17 Jan 1885, daughter Ida Barbara on 9 Jul 1886, and son William Charles on 28 Feb 1888.  Their son Franklin was born and died 10 Jun 1890.  Their son Clarence was born on 16 Jul 1893, son Jesse Leroy on 21 Mar 1895, daughter Laura Sophia on 26 Jun 1897, and son Raymond Albert on 30 Jul 1899.

In the 1900 U.S. census, the family was living in Santa Clara, and included the seven living children.  Two more children were born.  These were daughter Vilate on 11 Dec 1902, and son Lafayette on 21 Jan 1905.  In the 1910 U.S. census, the family was still in Santa Clara, although George Jacob and Ida Barbara were no longer living at home.

In 1917, the family moved to Enterprise, Washington, Utah.  In 1920, the U.S. census lists William, Clarence, Vilate and Lafayette as living in the home.  Later in 1920, John and Barbara moved to St. George in order to spend their time working in the temple.  Most of their children remained in Enterprise.

In the 1930 U.S. census, John and Barbara were living in St. George, Utah, but none of their children were living with them.  In 1932, they celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Enterprise.  About 1938 when John wrote his life story, he states that they had sixty-one grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Barbara died 19 Sep 1941 in Cedar City, Utah, and John died 25 Dec 1942 in Enterprise, Utah.  Both are buried in the Enterprise City Cemetery, Enterprise, Utah.
