Notes: John Henry Detwiller and Gertrude Idalette Sherman were married 16 Feb 1904 in Seymour, Outagamie, Wisconsin. She was known by her middle name, Idalette. John was a grain farmer in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota. After their marriage they continued farming, their farm being located seven miles northwest of Cooperstown. They are found in the 1910 through 1940 USA and North Dakota census records. The couple had no children.

John died 21 Sep 1941 of heart failure. Funeral services were held in the Masonic Temple, Cooperstown, on Wednesday, 24 Sep 1941, the Rev. C.C. Converse officiating. He was buried in Cooperstown Cemetery. His wife Idalette died 21 Jan 1951 in Jamestown. An Eastern Star funeral was held at the Cooperstown Masonic temple, the Rev. K. Wuflestad assisting. She is buried next to her husband in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, North Dakota.
