Notes: Lester Lavern Smith and Jennie Rebecca Hurtig were married on 9 Jul 1932,
probably in Sheridan Twp., Ottawa, Kansas. In the 1940 U.S. census, Lester and Jennie
were living in Garfield Twp., Ottawa, Kansas. They had four children, namely Wayne, Joan,
Virginia, and Deanna. Their fifth child June was born following the census. Lester was a
farmer, working on his own account. They were renting, at $5. per month. Lester and
Jennie had both completed four years of high school.
Jennie died 3 Jul 1966, probably in Ottawa County, Kansas. She is buried in the
Delphos Cemetery, Delphos, Kansas. Lester married Thaddia Waylan
Garrison. Lester died 11 Apr 1987 in Delphos, Ottawa, Kansas. He is buried with
Jennie in the Delphos Cemetery. |
