Notes:  Waldemar L. Hoyer married Elna about 1894 in Denmark.  They traveled to the United States aboard the S.S. Dania, leaving Hamburg, Germany, on 9 Dec 1894, and arriving in the Port of New York on 24 Dec 1894.  They had nine pieces of luggage, and settled in New Jersey.

In the 1900 U.S. census, the family was living on Little Street in the Matawan Borough, Monmouth, New Jersey.  Waldemar was a terra cotta fitter.  They had two sons, Cai, age four years, and Waldemar R., age three months.  They moved to Perth Amboy, Middlesex, where their son Edgar was born in 1902.  Their son Cai probably died before 1904, as there is no future reference to him.

In 1904, the family was living at 165 Elm Street, Perth Amboy, when Elna took Waldemar R. and Edgar, ages 4 and 2, to Denmark.  They returned to the Port of New York on 30 Nov 1904, sailing on the S.S. Hellig Olav.

In the 1910 U.S. census, Waldemar was still a fitter in a terra cotta plant.  The family was living at 378 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy, which became their family home.  On 9 Jan 1918, he and Elna became naturalized citizens in the Middlesex County Court, New Jersey.

In the 1920 U.S. census, The family was still on Barclay Street.  In 1923, Waldemar and Elna applied for a U.S. Passport.  The couple sailed from the Port of New York on the S.S. Frederik VIII on 22 May 1923 to visit their relatives in Denmark.  They returned by way of Southampton on the S.S. Majestic on 1 Aug 1923.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Waldemar and Elna were now living alone in their home.  They are not found in the 1940 U.S. census.  Waldemar died in 1942, and Elna died in 1950.  Both are buried in the Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
