Carbon's Karl Alma Peterson dies at 79
PRICE - - Karl Alma Peterson, 79, former director of the Carbon County senior citizens program, died Jan 11, 1981.
Mr. Peterson was named executive director of the program in 1973 and served until becoming ill a couple of months ago.  He campaigned to establish Wedgewood Villa, a senior citizen housing project, and worked with the Carbon County Housing Authority to expand the area housing program.
Mr. Peterson had worked to form a separate county program to save administrative costs and retain more control for county officials.  He worked without pay, partly to retain his eligibility to serve on the Utah State Council on Aging.
As a 12-year member of that policy-making board, he was honored with the title of Utah's Mr. Rural Senior Citizen.  He had also been named Carbon County's Mr. Senior Citizen.
He was founder of Peterson Distribution Co., Inc. of Price and had been a precinct chairman in the Democratic Party.  A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had served as counselor to two bishops in the Price Third Ward.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Price Sixth LDS Ward chapel.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fausett Mortuary in Price.  Burial will be in Price City Cemetery.  (See obituary on B-4.)
