Robert Charles Allsop Obituary

      The Salt Lake Tribune (UT) > May 30, 2007 > Robert Charles Allsop, 86, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother returned to his heavenly Father on Saturday May 26, 2007.  He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles and Colenso (Farrimond) Allsop.
      Bob graduated from West High School where he played football and was a member of the swim team.  He went on to further his education at the University of Utah.  Bob was one of the first Eagle Scouts in the Salt Lake Valley.  Later in his life he served many years as Scout Master imparting his love of camping and swimming to the youth.  For his excellence and countless hours of service he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award.
      During World War II, Bob served in the U. S. Army as a mechanic.  Those skills were utilized later in his thirty-nine year career as a salesman for Bearing Service and Supply Co.  He was a hardworking individual who was well respected in his ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
      Bob was an active member in the LDS church and served in many callings including ward clerk, elders quorum presidency, and scoutmaster.  Bob married Fay Bramble, April 11, 1941.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  They had three children and shared 37 wonderful years together until her death from ALS.  Bob was a pillar of strength and compassion as primary care giver for his wife.
      Bob married Ruth Ahlstrom, April 26, 1980.  They successfully blended their two families into one.  Bob and Ruth had 27 happy years of traveling all over the world.  They especially liked being Temple workers at the Jordan Temple.  Bob cherished his family and his home.  His great sense of humor and dry wit was endearing.  Bob was a kind, gentle man who will dearly be missed.
      He is survived by his wife Ruth Allsop; three children, Carol Walker (Stephen), Bob Allsop & Peggy Allsop; four stepchildren, Laura Barnes (Ron), Kent Ahlstrom (Julie), Eileen Sieber (Michael) and Mary Ann Sadler (Merlin); a sister, Flora Case (Lafe); stepbrother, Reed Babcock (Eileen), and a stepsister, Rula Dickson (Jim); 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and many friends.
      A viewing will be held Thursday, May 31, at Kenwood 1st Ward, 3080 S. 1765 E. from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services.  Funeral services will be June 1 at 12 noon at the Kenwood 1st Ward.  Interment in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
