Open house will honor Norma Pate for 80th
      Norma Stewart Pate will celebrate her 80th birthday at an open house hosted by her children, Sunday, Oct. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the American Fork Senior Center, 54 E. Main St.
      Friendships are a cherished gift; she request no others.
      Norma was born Oct. 13, 1915 in Hinckley, Utah to Clara and George L. Stewart.
      She graduated from Hinckley High School and Excelcis Beauty College,  While in high school, she had the lead in the school opera for three consecutive years and the lead in Little Women her senior year.  She has sung in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for three years and the American Fork Civic Chorus for many years.
      She has been a resident of American Fork for 55 years.
      After raising five children she graduated from Utah Technical College.  She worked for many years at the Utah State Hospital.
      Norma has been active in the LDS Church.
      She was married in Holden, Utah to Bud W, Pate in 1934.
      They had five children:  Patricia Fox, of Sandy; Bud D. Pate, Salt Lake City; Kay L. Pate, American Fork; Cynthia Durrant, Pleasant Grove; and Julie Blaney, Payson.
      She has 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
