Obituary

Joe Milton Miles JOE MILTON MILES
1933 ~ 2014
Joe Milton Miles passed away at home in Kearns, Utah surrounded by loved ones September 5, 2014.  He was born July 25, 1933 in Ioka, Duchesne County, Utah to Ralph Maxwell Miles and Eva May Benson Miles.  He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings.
Joe served his country honorably in the Army from 1953 to 1955 and upon discharge began his studies at BYU in mechanical engineering.  He soon thereafter met and on December 15, 1956 married Betty Jensen, the mother of two young children, David Lyle Stewart and Martha Lynette née Stewart Hadden (husband:  Timothy Roy Hadden).  He was very happy to be their "dad".
He graduated from BYU in 1959 and took employment at Eimco Corporation where he designed water treatment equipment for his entire career.  He was blessed with two more children, Alvin Ralph Miles (wife:  Elida Mancias Miles) and Dr. Susan Ruth née Miles Labasky (husband:  Richard Francis Labasky, M.D.).  Grandchildren include:  Cory David Stewart (wife:  Shelby née Hales Stewart), Coedy Tim Hadden, Abbey Jo née Hadden Colbert (husband:  Jeffrey Colbert), Christopher Richard Labasky, and Meghan Labasky.  Great grandchildren include:  Sienna and Sydney Stewart; Alexia, Briannda, and Caden Colbert.  Joe is survived by his wife and all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Joe never missed an opportunity to spend time with his loved ones.  He had a natural rapport with children and a kind soul.  He also had a thirst for knowledge and was usually enrolled in classes at the University.  He had a knack for building gadgets in his workshop yet because of his frugal upbringing he would do so with basic materials using remarkable fabrication skills.  He loved to play chess and for many years was the company champion.  Yet golf was his main obsession.  He asked that his remains be cremated and the ashes spread at a handful of his favorite courses.  We Will Dearly Miss Our "Grand Poobah"!
