Notes: Mabel Culley was born 11 Apr 1885 in Bosanquent, Lampton, Ontario.  She was the daughter of William Culley and Leah Jane George.  In the 1891 CAN census, Mable, 6, was living with her parents, William Culley, 35, and Jane, 31, in Bosanquet, Lampton East, Ontario.  (The census is diffult to read and Culley is transcribed as Camp, and Jane as Jack.)  Her father was a farmer, their religion listed as Disciples.  Her siblings were Mary E., 10, James H., 8, Ethel, 6, Lena 2, and Ada M., 1 month.

In the 1901 CAN census, Mable, 15, was living with her parents, William Culley, 45, and Jane L., 41, in Bosanquet, Lampton East, Ontario.  Her father was still farming, and their religion was listed as Christian.  Her siblings were Mary E., 19, James H., 17, Ethel, 14, Lena, 12, Ada M., 10, and Alfred G., 4.

Mabel Culley mrried Walter Oliver Hancock in 1906 in St. Thomas, Elgin, Ontario.  Their first child, Etta Mae, was born 14 Nov 1907, and their second, Chester LeRoy, was born 31 Jul 1909, when they were living at 190 John St., City of London*, Ontario.  Walter was a motorman.

In the 1911 CAN census, Mabel Hancock, 26, and her husband Walter, 25, were now living at 15 Rathgar St., London City*, Ontario.  He was a motorman, with earnings of $600.  The family was Methodist.  Their two children were Etta, 3, and Chester, 1.  Their lodgers were Ethel Culley, 34, and Lena Culley, 22, sisters of Mabel.  Their last child, Maybella Alberta (known as Alberta), was born 22 Dec 1911.

In the 1921 CAN census, Mabel Hancock, 36 (transcribed Heacock), and her husband Walter, 33, were now living at 77 Beaconfield, City of London*, Ontario.  They belonged to the Church of England.  Their children were Etta, 13, Chester, 11, and Alberta, 9.

In the 1931 CAN census, Mabel Hancock, 46, and her husband Walter Hancock, 45, were still living at 77 Beaconfield, City of London*, Ontario.  Walter was a motorman, with income of $1,200.  They owned their home, valued at $4,000, which was made of brick veneer with 6 rooms, and had a radio.  They were listed as members of the United Church.  The children still at home were Chester, 22, and Alberta 19.

In the 1935 List of Electors, Mrs. Walter Hancock, a married woman, is listed at 77 Beaconsfield, City of London*, with her husband Walter Hancock, an operator, their daughter Miss Alberta Hancock, a saleslady, and her husband John Ireland, a service man.  In the 1938 list of electors, same address, Mrs. Walter O. Hancock, is listed along with her husband, Walter O. Hancock, a bus driver, and their son Chester L. Hancock, a national defence clerk.

Mabel Culley died in 1962, followed by her her husband in 1965.  They are buried together in the Woodland Cemetery, London, Middlesex, Ontario.
