Notes: Chester LeRoy Hancock was born 31 Jul 1909 in London, Middlesex, Ontario.  He was the second of three children of Walter Oliver Hancock and Mabel Culley.  In the 1911 CAN census, Chester, 1, was living with his parents, Walter Hancock, 25, and Mabel, 26, at 15 Rathgar St., London City, Ontario.  His father was a motorman with earnings of $600., and the family was Methodist.  His older sister Etta was 3.  Living in the household were his aunts Ethel Culley, 34, and Lena Culley, 22, sisters of his mother.  His last sister, Maybella Alberta (known as Alberta), was born in Dec 1911.

In the 1921 CAN census, Chester, 11, was living with his parents, Walter Hancock, 33, (transcribed as W. L. Heacock), and Mabel, 36, at 77 Beaconsfield, City of London, Ontario.  His siblings were Etta, 13, and Alberta, 9.  The family was listed as belonging to the Church of England.

In the 1931 CAN census, Chester, 22, was living with his parents, Walter Hancock, 45, and Mabel, 46, still at 77 Beaconsfield, City of London, Ontario.  Chester was listed as having no job.  His father a motorman, with income of $1,200.  The family owned their home, valued at $4,000, which was made of brick veneer with 6 rooms, and had a radio.  They were listed as members of the United Church.  His sister Alberta was 19.

In the 1940 Voter lists, Chester L. Hancock is listed as living at 77 Beaconsfield, City of London, along with his parents.  He was a clerk in national defence.  He married Lorna Margaret Clayton on 21 Nov 1942 in the Wesley United Church, Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario.  They had met while both were serving in the war department.  They went to Montreal on their honeymoon, then made their home in Ottawa.

While living in Ottawa, Chester and Lorna had two boys, Richard and Thomas.  After the war they moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where Lorna had grown up.  Here they added two girls to the family, Margaret and Karen.  In the 1945 Voter lists, they are listed as living at 516 Brodie Streeet, City of Fort William, Ontario.  Chester L. Hancock is listed as a soldier, and Mrs. Chester as a housewife.  Living with them was her father, Richard Clayton, retired.

Chester LeRoy Hancock died 31 Oct 1989, place and burial unknown.
