Notes:  Samuel Corey was born about 1800 in New Jersey.  He married Sarah Speer about 1824, and they had a family of four children.

In the 1850 U.S. census, Samuel Corey, 50, and his wife Sarah, 48, were living in the North Ward, Newark, Essex, New Jersey.  Samuel was a "carman"*, and his real estate was valued at $1,000.  Their son, David, 18, was a carman, and daughter Lydia was 16.

Also in the household was their son Wheelock Corey, 23, and his wife Phebe, 18.  Wheelock was also a carman.  Listed also was Polly Harrison, 83, Mary Lundy, 34, and William Lundy, 1.

Samuel is not found in the 1860 USA census, and his death date, place and burial are unknown.

* In the 1850s, the "carmen" were largely wagoners, stagecoach drivers, and horse-drawn transport operators.
