Their youngest son John McFerren (#3), and his wife Mary A., 21, were also listed, along with their children Louisa, 3, and Harriet, 1. John and Mary had moved from Indiana in 1864.

Also listed in the census was Peter Fifer, 36, and his wife Elizabeth, 29, along with their children, John W., 8, Lydia, 3, and Mary M., 1. Elizabeth was a daughter of John McFarren (#2). Their children had all been born in Indiana, so the move to Nebraska was recent.
