Notes: Walter Garth Bunker was born 9 Apr 1943 in St. George, Washington, Utah. He was the eighth of nine children of James Raphael Bunker and Adele Slack. He was baptized 5 May 1951 in the St. George Temple.

In the 1950 U.S. census, Garth Bunker, 7, was living with his parents, James E. Bunker, 45, and Adelle, 44, at 109 on 100 S 300 W, St. George, Washington, Utah. His father was a automobile salesman. His sisters at home were Katherine, 17, and Carma L., 5.

Garth attended the LDS Institute and Seminary, graduating 22 May 1960, having completed 3 years of seminary work in high school. The ceremonies were held in the St. George Tabernacle. In 1960, he enlisted in the Utah Army National guard, where he spent nine years, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Garth attended Dixie College in St. George, appearing in the 1962 year book as a freshman, and in the Concert Orchestra. He went on to the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where he earned a B.A. in Accounting, graduating in 1969. The 1965 Salt Lake City Directory lists him as a student living at 564 Hollywood av.

On 13 Aug 1966, Garth Bunker married Toni Walker in the St. George Temple, St. George, Washington, Utah. Their first daughter Nicole was born in Salt Lake City. Their second daughter was born in Mountain View, California. Garth worked for many years as a senior member of an accounting firm, and enjoyed bowling with Toni in their leisure time. Their eight year marriage ended in divorce in Feb 1974, Contra Costa County, California.

On 14 May 1977, Walter Garth Bunker, 34, married Patricia Jane Duhis, 30, in a religious ceremony, in Reno, Washoe, Nevada. It was the second marriage for both, and they had both listed San Francisco, California, as their place of residence. For many years they lived in Concord, Contra Costa County, where Garth worked as a senior member of an accounting firm. Their address was 546 Anselmo Court, Concord 94521.

About 1987 Garth and Patty moved to Reno, Nevada, where they were listed at 7939 Oak Creek Dr., Reno. About 1991 they moved to Plano, Texas, living at 1804 Huron Trail, Plano 75075.

Garth battled colon cancer for 18 months, enduring chemo, radiation, and numerous surgeries. He spent his last seven months at home with the help of hospice, and died peacefully on 25 Sep 2000 with his daughters and wife present. A memorial service was held 7 Oct 2000. at the Buena Vista Stake Center. His burial place is unknown.
