|Notes: *Name conflicts: Mary's surname is reported as Osman in her marriage
record. Her middle name was given as Marie on her death
certificate and headstone, but recorded as Maria in all genealogist-generated
records, recorded as Mary in the U.S. 1900 Census, and recorded as Omen
in the U.S. 1910 Census. Mary was undoubtedly the English language
equivalent or nickname for the Latin Maria and Marie.|
Conclusion: Mary went by several different middle names and her surname was sometimes misspelled.
Mary immigrated to the U.S. in 1888 at age 25 from Bremen, Germany, aboard the ship Donau. She married Henry Bertram 15 months later in 1889 in Ford County, Illinois.
In 1900 Mary was living in Ford County, Illinois, with her husband Henry and their seven living out of her eight total children. In 1910 Mary resided in Osceola County, Iowa, with Henry and their nine living children, all of whom were born in Illinois. The photo at the right shows Mary circa 1915.
Mary and Henry next moved to Traverse County, Minnesota — where Henry died in 1929 and Mary died in 1937.
