Notes:  Eliza was of Welch and German ancestry.  Her father, Martin, was a prosperous Bedford County, Tennessee, planter and was in the war of 1812.  Her grandparents were in the Revolutionary War.  Her brother, William H. Wisener, of Shelbyville was a lawyer and a prominent politician in the Whig and Republican parties.  He was elected to the Tennessee state legislature and was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Tennessee.

Eliza was remarkable for her energy, industry, and common sense.
