Notes:  Hiram Jackson and Mary Ann Logan were married 16 Aug 1838 in Wells County, Indiana.  Twelve children were born of this union.  Their first daughter, Elizabeth, was born and died in 1839.  In the 1840 U.S. census, Hiram Jackson and Mary were living in Wells County (26 North of Range 11 East), Indiana, with their second daughter Rachael Elizabeth.  Rachael died in 1843, but five more children were born

In the 1850 U.S. census, Hiram Jackson, 33, and Mary, 32, were living in Liberty Township, Wells, Indiana.  Hiram was a farmer and his real estate was valued at $2,000.  Their children were Samuel, 8, Maryann, 6, Margaret 3, and Joseph L., 1.  A son John was born in 1845, but is unaccounted for in the census.

In the 1860 U.S. census, Hiram Jackson, 42, and Mary A., 41, were living in Liberty Twp., Wells, Post Office Bluffton.  Hiram, a farmer, had real estate valued at $3,500. and personal property valued at $700.  Their children were Samuel, 17, Mary A., 16, Margaret, 13, Joseph, 11, Nancy, 8, Hiram, 4, and Martha, 1.  A son James, born in 1854, had died as an infant.

Hiram Jackson was away from the family from Aug 1862 through Jun 1865, fighting on the Union side of the Civil War, in the 97th Regiment, Ohio Infantry.

In the 1870 U.S census, Hiram Jackson, 53, farmer, and Mary, 52, keeping house, were still in Liberty Twp., Wells, Post Office Bluffton.  Their real estate was valued at $5,000. and personal property valued at $1,250.  Their children at home were Margaret, 23, Hiram, 14, farmer, Martha, 12, and George W. 8.

Hiram's wife, Mary Ann, died 27 Apr 1872 and is buried in the McFarren Cemetery, Bluffton, Wells, Indiana.
