Angelo Gattavara

      Angelo John Gattavara, 88, died Tuesday at a hospital.
      Mr. Gattavara served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired in 1970 from Rohr Aircraft Co. in Chula Vista.
      He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Suisun; a stepdaughter, Lynda Hulford of Napa; a sister Norma Cronin of Napa; a half-sister, Edith Nussa of Napa; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

Angelo Gattavara

      Angelo Gattavatra, 88, passed away Sept. 8 at a hospital.
      A Napa native, Mr. Gattavara was born june 27, 1910, to John and Louisa (Frugoli) Gattavara.  He was raised and educated in Napa.
      Angelo worked in the Cutting Department of the Cameron Shirt Factory.  They made uniforms for the military during World War II.
      In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and served until the end of World War II.  Upon his discharge, he went to work for the Rohr Aircraft Co. in Chula Vista.
      In 1964, he married the former Ruth Hancock Imboden.
      Mr. Gattavara retired from Rohr Aircraft Co. in 1970 and moved to Suisun.  Angelo's retirement dream was to be a farmer.  He owned and operated a small farm in Suisun until 1996 when he was forced to permanently retire because of his failing health.
      He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.
      Survivors include his wife Ruth Gattavara of Suisun, a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Lynda and David Hulford of Napa; a sister, Norma Cronin of Napa; half-sister Edith Nussa of Napa; grandchildren, Gary Hulford of Reno, Nev., and Darrell Hulford and Angela Midyette, both of Napa; great-grandchildren, Julie, Christopher and Lynette Hulford, and Emiley Midvette, all of Napa, as well as five nieces and nephews.
      He was predeceased by two brothers, Geno and Mario Gattavara, and a sister, Anne Attbery.
      Friends are invited to attend a Catholic prayer service at 1 p.,. Saturday at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, with the Rev. Father Tim O'Sullivan officiating.  Internment will be private at Tulocay Cemetery.  Visitation at the mortuary will be today from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until service time.  A memorial Mass will also be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.
