Ruth married Bill Imboden in 1937 and thereafter moved to 96 Franklin Street in Napa. She became a housewife, registered to vote as a Democrat, got a job at the Napa Shirt Factory, and later as a sales clerk for the J. C. Penney store in Napa. She became a mother in 1942. Her marriage lasted until 1950. Ruth remained with her daughter at the Franklin Street residence.
Ruth married Angelo Gattavara in 1964 and thereafter moved to Southern California. She then worked for the J. C. Penney Company at their North Hollywood and Fairfield stores. She retired from Penney's after 32 years with them.
After retiring, Ruth assisted her husband Angelo with their fruit and vegetable business from their home in Suisun City. They delivered produce to restaurants and grocery stores in Fairfield, Napa, and Vallejo. She loved to can fruit, work in her garden, and was well known for the cookies she baked.
After the death of her husband Angelo in September 1998, Ruth briefly lived with her daughter and son in law. Ruth moved into Piner's Guest Home shortly after Christmas 1998. She was happy there and had a couple of new lady friends.
The photo at the left shows Ruth on her 85th birthday on 11 Mar 2002. She passed away less than eight months later.
