| Newspapers.com. The Napa Valley Register (Napa, California), Wed, Nov 6, 2002, p. 5, col. 2. NAPA Ruth Arlyne Gattavara, 85, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Napa. A native of Napa, Ruth was born to Wilfred and Nora Samuels Hancock on March 11, 1917. She attended Shearer Elementary School, Intermediate School and Napa High School, graduating in 1935. She and William Imboden were married in 1936 and their daughter, Lynda, was born in 1942. Ruth married Angelo Gattavara in 1964 and they moved from the area. They moved back to Suisun Valley in 1970 and back to Napa in 1998. She worked at Napa Shirt Factory and as a clerk for the J.C. Penney Co. in Napa, North Hollywood and Fairfield, retiring after 32 years from the Fairfield store. After retiring, she assisted Angelo with their fruit and vegetable business. They delivered produce to resturants and grocery stores in Fairfield, Napa and Vallejo. She loved to can fruit, work in the garden and bake cookies; she was well known for her cookies. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Hulford and her husband, David, of Napa; her sister-in-law, Norman Cronin, of Napa; her grandchildren, Gary Hulford of Reno, Darrell Hulford and his wife Susan, of Napa, Angela Midyette and her husband, Gary, of Napa; and her great-grandchildren: Julie Emily and Jacob Midyette, all of Napa. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother,Warren (Bud) Hancock. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa. Private internment at Tulocay Cemetery, Napa. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 8 from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1031 Jefferson St., Napa, CA 94559 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, CA 95402. | ||||
