Notes:  Elizabeth Jane Miller was born 3 Jun 1921 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  Her parents were R.Christian Miller and Elizabeth Van Dussen (Bess).  Her sister Margaret Janice was born in 1924.  In the 1930 and 1940 census records the family was living at 60 Woodbridge Ave., Metuchen, New Jersey.

Elizabeth graduated from Metuchen High School and in Aug 1938 was accepted for admission to the New Jersey College for Women in New Brunswick, later known as Douglass College.  She graduated in 1942 with a bachelor of arts degree in English.

In Jul 1946, Elizabeth became engaged to Elmer W. Wolz, a plastic engineer.  Nothing seems to have come of this.  At the age of 27, when she was still living with her parents in Metuchen, she took a one week vacation cruise to the Bahamas.  According to her grandmother's letter, she took the trip with two of her girlfriends.  They sailed on the S.S. Evangeline, leaving the Port of New York on 24 Jul 1948, and returning on 3 Aug 1948.

Betty married Lawrence Grambo on 22 Apr 1950, on the Douglas College campus.  At first, they rented a house in Cheesquake, New Jersey, then bought a home in Westfield, New Jersey.  Betty worked for Johnson & Johnson in the personel department, and actually hired her husband to work for the company. They had a son and a daughter.  When her mother Bess came to live with them in 1961, they moved to 714 Boulevard, Westfield.

Betty attended the Presbyterian Church of Westfield, and was active in the Couples Club.  She was also active in the Douglas College Alumni Association.  Through the years, Betty suffered from severe diabetes.  On 3 Aug 1989, she had a heart attack, and fell on the bathroom floor.  She passed away at Overlook Hospital in nearby Summit.  The funeral service was held in the Presbyterian Church of Westfield on 7 Aug 1989, and interment followed in the Old Tennent Churchyard Cemetery, Tennent, New Jersey.  She was survived by her husband, her mother, her two children, three grandchildren, and her sister.
