|Notes: Louis Berge was born 16 Dec 1923 in East Orange, Essex, New Jersey, to Louis and
Florence Berge. His father Louis had been born in Connecticutt, and his parents
in France. His mother Florence had been born in New Jersey, and her father
in Germany. In the 1930 U.S. census the family was living at 268 Parker
New Jersey. His father was a sales manager for vacuum cleaners.
His maternal grandfather Dietrich Hoesly lived with the family. The family is not
found in the 1940 U.S. census.|
Louis attended Newark schools and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. At the time of his engagement in Oct 1949 he was employed as an engineer with Western Union.
Louis married Margaret Janice Miller on 14 Jan 1950 in the Presbyterian Church in Metuchen, New Jersey. Their first daughter was born in New Jersey. Sometime between 1954 and 1957, they moved to Southern California, where their second daughter was born. Louis worked for Lockheed in California as an engineer. His wife Margaret also worked for Lockheed.
Louis died suddenly on 19 Dec 1979 at the age of 55 years while playing golf. His wife Margaret died 20 Dec 1993. Both his and her ashes were scattered at sea.
