Notes:  John Henry Graf, also known as Henry, was born 28 Nov 1856 in Reibstein, St. Gallen, Switzerland.  His parents were Johnannes and Magdelene Graf.  He had an older sister Catherine, a younger brother John, and younger sisters Emma Barbara and Emili.  His family were converts to the Church of Latter-day Saints, and they traveled to America in 1866.  They crossed the plains to Utah, and settled in the town of Santa Clara.  Another brother, Harmon, was born in Utah.  Henry's mother Magdalena died 14 Jan 1869.

Henry's father John married Anna Katherine Ruegg in the mid 1870's.  The household in the 1880 U.S. census was missing his oldest sister Catherine, but now included three half-siblings, Charles, Anna, and Emma.  His father Johannes died 23 Jul 1883.

Henry married Barbara Staheli on 15 Oct 1884* in Santa Clara, Utah.  Marius Ensign presided.  Barbara's brother George Staheli married Henry's sister Emma Barbara Graf in 1897.  Barbara and Henry had two boys and two girls, all born in Santa Clara.  George Albert was born in 1884; John Henry in 1886, Barbara Wilhelmina in 1888, and Amanda Sophia in 1890.  Henry died 2 Jan 1891, leaving his wife Barbara with the four young children.  He is buried in the Santa Clara City Cemetery, and shares a headstone with his wife.

*Family sources give 15 Oct 1884 as the marriage date for Barbara and John Henry Graf.  The Index to Early Washington County Marriages, Source No. 722 gives 15 May 1884.
