Notes:  Caroline Hildebrand was born 20 Jan 1884 in Alhambra, California.  Her parents were Charles Hildebrand and Wilhelmina Staheli.  She had five older sisters, namely Rachael, born in 1869, Emma, 1871, Matilda, 1873, Julia, 1877, and Dora, 1879.  Her only brother Charles was born in 1881.  Her youngest sister Alice was born two years later, in 1886.
Caroline's entire family had musical talent, and Caroline was a talented violinist.  In 1899, she participated in a musical recital presented by the pupils of her sister Julia.

Caroline married Ludwig Opid on 22 Nov 1905 in the family home on South Wilson Avenue in Alhambra.  Ludwik, a famous celloist, was 19 years her senior.  They made their first home in Pasadena.  In the 1910 USA census, they were living on Breed Street in Los Angeles.  Ludwig had been married previously, and the household included his son John, age 19 years, and daughters Helen, age 17 years, and Felicia, age 15 years.  Caroline and Ludwig's own daughter, Stephanie, was born 5 Sep 1910.

In the 1920 USA census, only their daughter Stephanie and Ludwig's daughter Helen were living with them.  By the 1930 USA census, the couple had moved to Grammercy Place in Los Angeles, and only their daughter Stephanie, age 19, was living with them.  In the 1940 USA census, their daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Edward Cyril Horton were living with them. 

Ludvig died 6 Oct 1948.  Caroline died 23 Oct 1973.  They are buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California.  [Plot:  Harmony, Lot 2925, Space 1]
