"Talented Violinist Becomes Bride of Noted Celloist".  [Caroline Hildebrand and Ludwig Opid]

A wedding of wide interest in the musical world was solemnized Wednesday morning [22 Nov 1905] at Alhambra, Miss Caroline Hildebrand becoming the bride of Ludwig Opid, the celloist.
Mr. Opid is a nephew of Madame Modjeska and, in accordance with her wish, the company was performed by Rev. Father Farelli of St. Andrews' church of Pasadena.  Madame Modjeska had wished the ceremony to take place before her departure for the east, but on account of the absence of the bride's mother it had to be postponed, and Madame Modjeska remembered the young people by telegraphing congratulations and "God bless you" from New York.
The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents in the room in which Romandy, the violinist, composed most of his music, and young Gounod Romandy, who as a child of 5, won the musical public by his playing at a benefit given for the Spanish-American war veterans at the close of the war, played the wedding march.  The room was canopied with asparagus ferns, into the meshes of which pink and white carnations had been woven.
The bride wore a gown of white lace over white satin and a long tulle veil was fastened with orange blossoms.  She carried a boquet of the same blossoms.  Her sister, Miss Alice Hildebrand, attended her as maid of honor, and she wore white crepe de chine and carried white carnations.
Henry Fishback attended the bridegroom as best man.
Miss Hildebrand comes from a family of talented musicians and is herself an accomplished violinist.  She is the sister of Mrs. Dion De Romandy, wife of the late violinist.
Mr. Opid is a celloist of note and is associated with the leading musicians of Southern California.  He is a cousin of Joseph Hoffman, the pianist, and Lolis Brenda, the artist.
Mr. and Mrs. Opid will make their home in Pasadena.
