Notes:  Martha Matilda Fishback was born 2 Jul 1895, probably in Alhambra, California, as that was where the family's residence was.  Her parents were Henry Fishback and Rachel Hildebrand.  She usually went by her middle name, Matilda, or Tilda for short.  She had an older brother Charles, born in 1889, and two older sisters, Minnie and Harriett, born in 1891 and 1893, repectively.  Her younger sister Francis was born in 1898, and was mentally or physically retarded.

In the 1900 U.S. census, the family was living at 28 S. Electric Ave.in Alhambra.  Matilda's father still called himself a miner.  Her brother Henry was born in 1902, and sisters Adel and Almira in 1906 and 1909, respectively.  In the 1910 U.S. census, her father listed himself as a carpenter, as did her brother Charles.  Minnie was a telephone operator.  Her youngest brother was born in 1911.  Her sister Francis died in 1915.  In the 1915-1916 Alhambra Directory, "Miss Tilda Fishback" was listed as being a piano instructor.

Matilda married Russell Rawson on 24 Dec 1918.  Russell was a sheet metal worker.  In the 1920 U.S. census, they were living at 221½ S. Raymond Avenue in Alhambra.  They shared the rear house with another couple, Glen and Mini Morgan.  Their daughter was born in 1921, and by 1926 they had moved to a house in Rosemead, California.  The address was originally 1828 Guess Street, but between 1950 and 1954 it was changed to 9234 E. Guess Street.

In the 1930 U.S. census, their daughter was 9 years old, and Russell was a mechanic in a sheet metal works.  Matilda was a Democrat and is listed in the voting registers from 1924 through 1960.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Martha and Russell were still living on Guess Street.  They owned the home, valued at $4,000.  Martha had an eighth grade education.

Matilda and Russell were still living in Rosemead when Russell died in 1982.  Matilda died 2 Sep 1985.  Both are buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.
