Fishback family, 1906 Fishback family, 1897 Notes:  On 14 Apr Henry Fishback, 35, swore out an Affidavit for Marriage License to marry Rachel S. Hildebrand, 18.  They were married on 26 Apr 1888 by the Rev. R.F. Bishop in Alhambra, California.  By the 1900 U.S. census, they had five children.  Charles was born in Jan 1889, followed by Minnie in Jan 1891, Harriett Martineau on 31 May 1893, Martha Mathilda on 2 Jul 1895, and daughter Francis in Jun 1898.  Their daughter Francis was mentally or physically retarded, and Donald Olson remembers Rachel pushing Francis in a large baby buggy.

In the 1900 U.S. census, Henry is listed as being a miner.  He and Rachel were living at 28 S. Electric Street in Alhambra.  They owned their home, which had a mortgage.  Henry R. was born 5 Oct 1902, followed by Adel Thelma on 26 Apr 1906, Almira R. on 25 Apr 1907, and Albert D. on 15 May 1910.  In the 1910 U.S. census Henry and their son Charles are listed as carpenters.  Minnie was a telephone operator.  Albert, who was born in 1910, was not listed in census records until 1930.

In 1915, daughter Francis died.  She is buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, California, along with son Charles, who died in 1925.  In the 1920 U.S. census, Henry and Rachel now owned their home free and clear.  Only Henry R., Adel and Almira are listed in the census as living with their parents.  Henry R. was a laborer working in a lumber yard, probably the Olson Lumber Company.

By the 1930 U.S. census, Henry and Rachel had left Alhambra, moving to 581 Valmont Street in the City of Los Angeles.  In the census records, Henry is listed as being a poultry farmer.  Their daughter Adele was a telephone operator, and Almira and Albert were not employed.  Henry is registered to vote at this address in 1930 and 1932.

According to his headstone, Henry died in 1932.  He is last found in the 1932 voter registration records, and is not found in the 1940 U.S. census.  His wife Rachel died in 1957.  They are both buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, California.
