Notes:  Louis Henry Wittnebert was born 27 Jul 1900 in Meutchen, New Jersey.  His father was Henry Wittnebert, Jr., born in New Jersey in 1867.  His grandfather Henry Wittnebert, Sr., had been born in 1825 in Germany, immigrating to the United States in 1851.  The Wittneberts were farming on the family farm located on Amboy Avenue, in The Raritan Township.  His mother Emma was born in New York.  In the 1900 U.S. census, Henry, Jr., and his wife Emma had been married 5 years, and had a daughter Florence, age 4 years.  Louis was born just after the census was taken.

In the 1910 U.S. census, Henry, Jr. and Emma were now heads of the household.  Their daughter Florence was 14, and Louis was 9 years old.  Living with them was Henry Jr.'s brother Otto and a farm laborer.  On 12 Sep 1918, Louis registered for the World War I draft.  He was described as being tall and of medium build, with gray eyes and brown hair.  In 1920, Louis was still living with his parents on the farm.

Louis married Dorothy Miller, also from Metuchen, about 1924.  Their daughter Dorothy was born in 1925, and their son Louis was born 10 Apr 1928.  In the 1930 U.S. census, the family was living on Amboy Avenue, next to his parents.  Louis was no longer a farmer, but was an auto mechanic working in a garage.  Their daughter Dorothy died in 1936 at the age of 12 years, and is buried in the Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Louis was running his own gas station with tourist cabins.  The census records their home as being worth $4,500.  It also reports no income for for Louis in 1939.

Louis died in Dec 1977.  His last residence was in Manasquan, Monmouth, New Jersey, but his last Social Security benefit was paid in Belmar, Monmouth, New Jersey.  His wife proceeded him in death in 1970.  Both are buried in the Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, alongside their daughter Dorothy.
