Notes:  Myrtle Ethel Detwiller was born 28 Jul 1904 in Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  She was the second child of Andrew Mathieson Detwiller and Isabella Elliott Beattie.  In the 1910 U.S. census, her family was living in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  It included her brother Harold James, born in 1903, and sister Vivian Edith, 1908.  Her father was a grain farmer.

Andrew Mathieson family In the 1915 North Dakota census, Myrtle was living with her family in Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  The family was now complete with the addition of Ronald Henry, born in 1915.  In the 1920 U.S. census, the family was again farming in Tyrol Twp., Griggs.  The children, except for the youngest one, were attending school.  In the 1925 North Dakota census, the entire family, seen at right, was together.

Myrtle married Ray Kent on 3 Feb 1926 in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  In the 1930 U.S. census, they were living in Broadus, Powder River, Montana.  Their son Robert was 1 year, 9 months.  Ray was a farmer.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Robert was now 12 years, and Ray was working as a carpenter.  At some point in time, they moved 79 miles north to Miles City, Custer, Montana.

After an extended illness, Myrtle died 12 May 1958 at Miles City.  Funeral services were held 15 May 1958 at the Groves Funeral Home.  The Rev. John B. Fitz of the Presbyterian Church officiated.  She was buried in the Custer County Cemetery, Miles City, Montana.
