Also still at home were Wallace, 19, Kenneth, 17, and Lawrence, 12. Their two sisters had since married. According to the 1940 U.S. census, Kenneth was living in Morton County, North Dakota in 1935.

Kenneth married Phyllis Mildred Burk on 10 Nov 1935 in Carrington, Foster, North Dakota. In the 1940 U.S. census, Kenneth and Mildred were living in Grand Forks, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Their son Michael S. Pratt was 3 years. Kenneth was a printer with W-R Printing Company, had 2 years of college, and had earned $1,700. in the prior year. They owned their residence, valued at $2,600. Living with the family was Maynard R. Burke, 25, Phyllis' brother. He was a stock clerk for a retail department store.
