Notes:  James Christian Detwiller was born 12 Mar 1886 in Loba Twp., Middlesex, Ontario.  He was the sixth child of James Detwiller and Selina Baker.  His older brother Charles was born in 1876, and older sisters Minnie Etta in 1878, Julia Maud in 1881, and Emma Georgina in 1882.  His older brother John William was born in 1884.

Shortly after James was born, his family moved west to the Province of Manitoba.  In 1891, they are found living in the Rural Muncipality of Cornwallis.  His brother Franklin was born in 1888, and sister Eva Myrtle was born in 1892.  In 1901 the family is identified as living in the Glenwood/Hayfield area near Brandon, Manitoba.  Sometime after 1911, the family moved and were living in Cornwallis near Brandon, Manitoba.  In 1916, only James, Franklin and Eva were living at home.  Both James and Franklin were farm hands.

James never married.  He moved to British Columbia where he was a maintenance worker for the Canadian National Railroad.  In 1939, when his nephew Gordon H. Detwiller visited, he was living at 2567 Dow Road, Burnaby, B.C.

James died 12 Jun 1965 in Willingdon Private Hospital, Burnaby, British Columbia.  His last residence was 4752 Maitland Street, Burnaby.  He suffered from diabetes, and cause of death was prostate cancer.  He was buried 15 Jun 1965 in the Ocean View Burial Ground, Burnaby, British Columbia.
