In the 1910 U.S. census, the family was living in Copperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  His father was the manager for some type of shop.  His younger siblings included Erma Mae, born in 1902, Ida Marion, 1905, and Howard Henry, 1909.

In the 1915 North Dakota census, they were living on their own farm in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, about 6 miles north of Cooperstown.  His father was a grain farmer, and also raised stock.  The census included Wallace Irving, born in 1910, and Kenneth Raymond, 1912.  In the 1920 U.S. census, the family was complete, with Lawrence Everett, born in 1917.  In the 1930 U.S. census, Earl and Howard were farm laborers.  Their sisters, Erma and Ida had married and moved out.  In the 1940 U.S. census, only Lawrence was still living with their parents.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Earl, now 39, was living in Tyrol Twp., listed as head of the household.  He was renting for $6. per month, and was a farm operator.  He had an 8th grade education.  Living in the household was his aunt, Ida M. Pratt, 72, his cousin, Irene E. Pratt, 39, and a second cousin, Ellis Pittenger, 8.

Earl never married.  He died 22 Apr 1979, and is buried in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.
