Notes:  Nels Oscar Neilson was born 2 Sep 1882 in Drammen, Buskerud, Norway.  The family reports that he had two brothers.  He immigrated to the United States in 1904.  He married Frederikke Margrethe Johansen, known as Margaret, on 28 Jan 1911.

When Nels registered for the World War II draft in 1918, he and Margaret were living at 207 Grant Street, Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  Nels was described as being of medium height and medium build, with brown eyes and brown hair.  He was a foreman (company name illegible), and was a naturalized citizen.  In the 1920 USA census, Nels and Margaret were renting a residence at 199 Grant Street, Perth Amboy.  Nels was an insurance agent.  They had three children - Lillian, Frederick, and Helen.  In 1927, the family was living at 444 Steadman Place, Perth Amboy, and Nels was a clerk.

In the 1930 USA census, Nels and Margaret were living at 556 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  They were renting for $27.00 monthly.  Nels was a shipping clerk for the local chemical works.  Their oldest child, Lillian, was working as a librarian.  The others, Frederick, Helen, Cecelia, and Ruth, were in school.

In 1935, Nels and Margaret were living at 429 Lawton Place, Perth Amboy.  Nels was a clerk, Lillian a librarian, and Fred was a clerk.  Nels does not appear in the 1940 USA census.  His wife is living with their daughter Lillian and her husband, along with daughters Cecilia and Ruth.

In 1942 when Nels registered for the World War II draft, his address was 182 Jefferson Street, Perth Amboy.  He was working for Hayden Chemical Company in Fords, Middlesex, New Jersey.  His wife was living at 400 E. Avenue, Perth Amboy.  Nothing further is known about Nels.
