Notes:  Irene Beatty was born 8 Jun 1914 in Toquerville, Washington, Utah.  She was the fourth of eleven children of John Thomas Beatty and Eva Florence Slack.  Her older siblings included Rulon Slack, born in 1910, and twin sisters, born in 1912, and died in 1912 and 1914.  Her younger siblings included Hilma, born in 1916, and Thomas Quentin, 1918.  She also had eleven half-siblings from her father's first marriage to Helen Augusta Lamb.  Her father was a farmer.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Irene was living with her family on State Road Main Street in Toquerville.  The family owned their farm, free of mortgage, and her father John was farming on his own account.  The children living at home were Ethelyn, 16, and Rudgur F., 14, both half-siblings, Rulon S., 9, Irene 5, Hilma, 3, and T. Quentin, 18 months.  The oldest four attended school.

Irene's younger siblings added to the family were Maree, born in 1920, Bessie, 1923, Evadeen, 1925, Kathleen, 1927, and Grant Dennis, 1929.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Irene's family was still living on Main Street, Toquerville.  They owned their home, valued at $3,000., and did not have a radio.  Her father John was a general farmer.  The children living at home were Rulon S., 19, Irene, 16, Hilma, 14, T. Quentin, 11, Maree, 7, Bessie, 7, Evadeen, 5, and Kathleen, 2.  [Grant Dennis probably should have been listed, but the census taker had come to the end of the page.]  The oldest six attended school.

Irene married Maurice Vernet Hinton on 15 Oct 1935 in St. George, Washington, Utah.  He went by his middle name Vernet.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Irene, 25, and Vernet, 37, were living in Hurricane, Washington, Utah.  Vernet was a saw mill operator.  Irene had completed two years of college.  Their children were Maurice, 3, and Wesley, 2.  Three more children were born in their marriage.

Vernet died in 1956, at the age of 53, from Chronic Myeloytric Leukemia, leaving Irene a widow at age 42, and 20 years of marriage.

According to family sources, Irene married Walter Allen on 10 Jun 1959 in Evanston, Unita, Wyoming.  Walter had been born 18 Aug 1913 in Escalante, Garfield, Utah to Philo Edmund Allen, Jr., and Stella Stout.  Irene and Walter made their home in Hurricane, Washington, Utah.  He died 9 Oct 1976 in St. George, Washington, Utah.  He is buried in the Hurricane City Cemetery, Hurricane, Washington, Utah.

In 1993, Irene was living at 88 N 700 W #3, Hurricane, Utah.  She died 8 Mar 1994 in Hurricane, and is buried with her first husband Vernet in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
