Notes:  Oscar J. Smith married Ethel G. Haley on 12 Nov 1901 in Minneapolis, Ottawa, Kansas.  J.F. Scherer, a Minister of the Gospel, performed the ceremony.  Oscar was 22 years and Ethel was 17 years of age.  Oscar was a farmer.
In the 1905 Kansas census, the family was living in Logan Twp., and with two children.  Velna had been born 6 Jun 1903, and Clement on 2 Feb 1905.  Bernice, a son, was born 1 Jul 1907.  Their son Darrel was born 5 Jul 1911, but died 23 Jul 1912.  A daughter Maurine was born 25 Jun 1913, but died 27 Jul 1913.  These two children were buried in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, in their grandfather Abraham Haley's plot.

In the 1915 Kansas census, the family was living in Blaine Twp., Ottawa County.  By the 1920 U.S. census, they had moved to Center Twp., Ottawa.  Ethel died 12 Nov 1926, and was buried in the Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Kansas.  Oscar remarried, then died 3 Oct 1933, and is buried next to Ethel.
