"Bloodhounds and Coon Dogs Are Delphos Area Business". By Mrs. Dale Brown.
      The article, in part, states:  "DELPHOS - Some persons think bloodhounds are ferocious, but Mr. and Mrs. W.J. "Bill" Maelzer, who live eight miles east of here, say you can learn to love them, and they in turn love you.
      Maelzer and his wife Dorothy raise and sell bloodhounds and coon dogs [for pets]."

      "Minneapolis - William J. Maelzer, 73, rural Delphos, died Wednesday at Belle View Manor, Belleville.
      Funeral arrangements are pending with Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis."

The Salina Journal (Salina, Kansas).  Sat, Oct 16, 1982, p. 17, col. 6.  "William J. Maelzer".
      "Minneapolis - The funeral for William J. Maelzer, 73, rural Delphos, will be a 2 p.m. Monday at the Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis, the Rev. James Flick officiating.  Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery, Barnard.
      Mr. Maelzer died Wednesday at Belle View Manor, Belleville.  He was born Nov. 3, 1908, in Vermillion.  He was a graduate of Barnard High School and had lived in the Hall community northeast of Delphos where he farmed and raised registered bloodhounds and Blue Tick 'coon hounds.
      Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, Delphos Rest Home, and two sisters, Mrs. Freida Dornath, Blue River, Ore., and Mrs. Zadie Chase, Santa Rosa, Calif.
      The family requests memorials to the Diabetes Foundation.  Friends may call at the funeral home."

      "Delphos - Dorothy D. Maelzer, 78, Delphos, died Saturday, May 11,1991, at Ashbury-Salina Regional Medical Center.
      Funeral arrangements will be announced by Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis."

      "Delphos - Dorothy D. Maelzer, 78, Delphos, died Saturday, May 11,1991, at Ashbury-Salina Regional Medical.
      Mrs. Maelzer was born Dorothy Smith on Feb 2, 1912, on a farm east of Delphos.  She was a homemaker and lived on a farm northeast of Delphos before moving to the Delphos Rest Home in 1977.
      Her husband, William J., died in 1982.
      Survivors include a brother, Rupert Smith of Delphos; a sister, Florence Bergsten, of Delphos; and several nieces and nephews.
      The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis, the Rev. James Flick officiating.  Burial will be at the Milo Cemetery, Barnard.
      Memorials may be made to the Delphos Rest Home.
      Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home."
