Betty Miles 1932 ~ 2015
      KEARNS - Betty Jensen Miles passed away January 9, 2015 surrounded by loved ones.  Betty was born November 14, 1932 in Provo, Utah to Alvin Joseph Jensen and Sylvia Mae Conover Jensen.  Recently widowed, Betty was also preceded in death by her sisters Margaret Anderson, Lois Edwards, Cora Murie and her brothers Alvin "Jack" Jensen and James Jensen.
      She is survived by her brother William D. "Bill" Jensen.  She is also survived by all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
      Betty married George "Lyle" Stewart in 1948 and lived in Pleasant Grove, Utah.  David Lyle Stewart and Martha Lynette (Stewart) Hadden [husband:  Timothy Roy Hadden] were born to them.  Betty and Lyle were later divorced.  Betty then married Joe Milton Miles in 1956 and Alvin Ralph Miles [wife:  Elida (Mancias) Miles] and Susan Ruth (Miles) Labasky, Ph.D. [husband:  Dr. Richard Francis Labasky, M.D.] were born to them.  Betty and Joe moved to Kearns, Utah in 1959 where they reared all four children and lived the rest of their lives.
      Grandchildren include:  Cory David Stewart [wife:  Shelby (Hales) Stewart], Coedy Tim Hadden, Abbey Jo (Hadden) Colbert [husband:  Jeffrey Colbert], Christopher Richard Labasky, and Meghan Elizabeth Labasky.  Great grandchildren include:  Sienna and Sydney Stewart; Alexia, Briannda, and Caiden Colbert.
      Her life straddled two eras.  Erstwhile a full-time homemaker; as an empty-nester she worked briefly for Brasher's Auto then later retired as a food service worker for the VA Hospital.  Betty came from humble origins and strove for better lives for her children. She was intensely proud of their accomplishments.
      In tribute to our beloved mother; "We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants.  We see more, and things that are more distant, than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they raise us up, and by their great stature add to ours."
