In Feb 1916 Ralph lived with his mother and stepfather, James Arthur Jones, in Richdale, Alberta. Ralph used the name Ralph Jones when he crossed into the U.S. from Victoria, B.C., to visit his grandparents in California.
The photo at the left shows Ralph, as a 6½ year old child, with his mother Fannie, his maternal grandparents (Thomas and Mary Anne Hancock), and Hancock aunts and uncles during his grandparents' 50th anniversary party in Corning, California, on 6 Mar 1916.
The two photos at the right show Ralph, his mother Fannie, and his Hancock aunts and uncles — probably also taken in California during the same 6 March 1916 party.
