Notes:  The parents, Henry and Sarah, never left England.  Their three oldest children (Charles, Sarah, and John) most probably moved from England to Canada before 1888.  Their son Alfred's middle name may have been James, and he probably died in England before the 1881 England Census was taken.

Disaster struck in 1888 when the parents both died:  Henry at age 55 and Sarah one week later at age 48.  This orphaned their sons William, age 10, and Howard, age 8, who were still living at home.  These two boys were then sent to Thedford, Ontario, as Home Children.  Later they resided in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
