Notes: In 1894 at the time of their marriage Cam was a widower with three sons of his own — while Mary was a widow with two sons, named Tommy and Stanton, from her prior marriage to a man with the surname Gallagher.

Cam's son Robert described Cam and Mary's wedding as follows:
Seems, as though on the day the folks were married us kids were locked out of the house, that was to be our new home after the nuptials rites were completed. However we could see through this window, a decorated cake on the center table, so we rigged up the ramp so that Tommy, he being the smallest, could climb in, get a handful of cake and pass it out to the rest of us. To say that we made a mess of the wedding cake is putting it mildly! I learned shortly after they got home that the woman had a heavy hand and that's the last recollection I have of Tommy and the first of my new mother.

Tommy died shortly after Mary married Cam.

*Stanton was formally or informally adopted by Cam and thereafter used the surname Whitthorne. Cam and Mary apparently had no natural children of their own.

In 1900 Cam and Mary lived in Vallejo with his three sons Robert, Irwin, and Harry, plus her son Stanton.

In 1920 Cam and Mary lived in San Francisco with his son Harry and granddaughter Marie.

In 1930 Cam and Mary still lived in San Francisco. Living with them were his son Harry, his granddaughter Marie, and her son Stanton.
