|Notes: George William Detwiller was born 27 Sep 1917 in Imperial, Saskatchewan. His
parents were Robert Hamilton Detwiller and Lucy Henrietta Shaw. His older sister
Florence Margaret was born in 1916, his younger sister Marion Henrietta in 1920. In
the 1921 Canada census, his family was living in Wood Creek, Last Mountain.
His father was a farmer. His brother Robert Milton was born in 1930.
William married Jean Adelle Woodley on 8 Jul 1941. According to his biography in The Imperial Review [p. 174], they lived in Innis Detwiller's first house, across the tracks from his parents. In 1946, they moved to her parents house, when the Woodley's retired to Imperial. They had three children.
In 1938, 1940, 1945, and 1949, George is listed in the Canada Voter Lists as a farmer, living in the Lake Centre electoral district, specifically Imperial. In 1958, 1962, 1963 and 1965, the electoral district is named Moose-Jaw-Lake Centre.
William battled asthma most of his life, and died 16 Mar 1968. He is buried in the Imperial Cemetery, Imperial, Saskatchewan.
