Notes:   Gounod Arthur Romandy was born 10 Aug 1925 in Los Angeles, California.  He was the oldest child or Gounod Romandy and Jean Lillian Reese.  In the 1930 U.S. census, Gounod, 4¾, was living with his parents, Gounod, 36, and Jean, 24, at 721 N. Vista Street, Los Angeles.  his father was a musician in the movie industry.  His sister Dianne was born in 1938.

In the 1940 U.S. census, his family was still in the same house.  Gounod A., 14, had completed one year of high school.  His father Gounod, 46, a violin musician, had finished one year of college, and his mother Lillian J., 34, had completed 3 years of high school.  Dianne was 1 year.  His father died in 1942.
Gounod Arthur Romandy, 18, registered for the World War II draft on 19 Aug 1943, his birthday.  His family residence on North Vista was listed as Hollywood.  He was employed part time by Sears and Roebuck.  He was described as 5'10", 150 lbs., with brown eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.  Gounod was listed in the Voting Registers in 1946 and 1948 at his North Vista address.  He was registered as a Rebublican. In 1949 he was attending the University of California, Los Angeles.  He was a member of Scarboard and Blade, and the yearbook photograph shows him in uniform.  He graduated with degrees in political science and business administration.

Gounod is not listed in the 1950 U.S. census as he went abroad as a student.  On 27 Jan 1950, he sailed on the S.S. Washington from New York, arriving in Southhampton, England on 3 Feb 1950, in transit to Le Havre, France, with his final destination Switzerland.  On his returned, he sailed from Rotterdam aboard the S.S. American Counselor on 5 Aug 1950, arriving in New York on 15 Aug 1950.

Gounod A. Romandy, 26, married Elaine M. Arndt, 20, on 24 Jun 1951 in the Shatto Chapel of the First Congregational Church, Los Angeles.  Their first home was with his mother on North Vista, as they are listed in the Voting Registers at that address in 1952 and 1954.  They were both registered as Republican.

In 1962, when Gounod A. Romandy and his wife Elaine M. registered to vote, they were living at 4434 Dawes Ave., Los Angeles.  By 1966, they are listed living at 1790 Warbler Place, Orange, California.  It was here that they raised a family of four children.

In his professional life, Gounod was known as G. A. Romandy or Arthur or Art.  He was the area development director for the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.  In 1971 he joined the staff of the San Bernardino County Economic Development Department as industrial development coordinator.  He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, and an instructor for reserve officer classes in a branch of the Army Command and General Staff College.

Gounod Arthur Romandy died 9 Feb 2013.  Services were held 10 Aug 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orange, California.  He was buried with military honors on 20 Feb 2013 in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
