Notes: Samuel Charles Bergsten, 21, and Florence Marian Smith, 22, were married on 20
Mar 1926 in Belleville, Republic, Kansas. In the 1930 U.S. census, Samuel and Florence were
living in Logan Twp., Ottawa, Kansas. Samuel was a general farmer. They were renting,
and had a radio set. Living with the family was Gertie Smith, a public school teacher and
sister of Florence.
In the 1940 U.S. census, rural Logan Twp., Ottawa County, Samuel and Florence owned their residence,
valued at $800. Samuel was farming on his own account, and both had completed four years of
high school. Their son Lester D. Bergsten, 9, born in Kansas, had completed 4th grade.
Samuel and Florence later moved to Sheridan Twp., Ottawa County, their address being RR01 Box 70,
Delphos, Kansas. In 1970, they retired to Delphos. Samuel died 1 Dec 1986. He is
buried in the Delphos Cemetery, Delphos, Kansas. Florence's
last residence (S.S. records) was Peoria, Peoria, Illinois. She died 29 Dec 1992 in the
Ottawa County Hospital, Minneapolis, Kansas. She is buried with her husband in the Delphos
Cemetery. |
